Jessica and Chris celebrated their marriage on September 5th with a wonderful group of their family and friends. The setting was Falcon’s Hamlet and the day was perfect. A band! A band! My kingdom for a band!

Those of you who know Jessica and Chris know how “interesting” the planning process became for their wedding. After weeks filled with surprise after surprise and setback after setback everthing was in place for their big day on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. Then the call came….

This is Chris on the phone with the band leader, who was enroute to the reception venue. He was calling to let Chris know that he had just learned that his mother had passed away and that, given the circumstances, he and his band would not be able to play for their reception, due to begin in about 3 hours! What happened next was remarkable. We all began calling our “band friends” and within 30 min The Main Event of Greenville, NC had agreed to jump in and was on the way. What a treat to hear them doing their first sound check! Jessica and Chris were certainly the main event on that day, but The Main Event were the heros!

One of our favorite photographs from each wedding is the “big group” shot. It is always the first image I post and eventually finds it way into a prominent location in the album. Sara Jane and Josh

We first met Sara and Josh at the Wedding Show in January and quickly discovered that Sara and I have a common connection to our Alma Mater, the College of Design at NC State. I was thrilled when they decided to offer us the opportunity to photograph their wedding! Working with them over these past eight months has been a real pleasure.

Previous posts shared a little about the images we made to announce their engagement, and Concord United Methodist Church in which they were married last Saturday. I hope you will scroll down to see the “pie cutting” images at the reception, hosted by Sara’s mother and step father, Bess and Ron, in their beautiful, rose filled back yard. What a treat to be far enough away from city lights that you can actually see stars at night!
